Commercial Insurance Coverage Lines
Every coverage line this brokerage commonly places, grouped by what it responds to rather than by product name — so you can start from the exposure you actually have and find the page written for it.
- Liability, Auto & Workers Comp
- Property, Equipment & Projects
- Surety Bonds & Cyber
Not sure which line?
Start from the document rather than the product name. A contract, bid package, lease or lender condition usually names the lines at issue, and often the limits and endorsements too.
Send it to a brokerPrefer to work it through yourself first? The coverage analyzer walks the same questions a submission asks.
Coverage, endorsements and credits are subject to insurer underwriting, eligibility and policy terms.

How to read this
How this index is organized
Commercial insurance is bought as separate policies, but no business experiences its risk in those compartments. The lines below are grouped by what each one responds to: the people who work for you, the vehicles that leave the yard, the property and equipment you own or rent, the project you are part-way through, the promises a contract asks you to guarantee, and the data and money that move through the office.
Each link goes to a page written for that line. None of them is a quote, a binder or a statement that a particular carrier will write your risk. Whether a line can be placed, on what terms and at what price depends on the operation, the loss history, the contract in front of you and each carrier’s appetite at the time. For the other half of the picture, the businesses these lines are written for, see industries we insure.
Where to start
If you are not sure which line you need
Most people arrive here knowing the problem rather than the product name — a general contractor asking for proof of coverage before you mobilize, a lender conditioning a draw, a lease naming a limit, or a public agency publishing bid requirements. Working backward from that document is usually faster than working forward from a list of coverage names.
Beyond construction
Lines placed outside construction
Construction is the deepest part of this practice and most of the guidance on this site is written for it. It is not the whole practice. Transportation and trucking risks, real estate development, restaurants and breweries, equipment dealers, building material suppliers and design firms are placed through the same submission process, and several of the lines below — cyber, management liability, professional liability and commercial property among them — are written far more often outside construction than inside it.

We are using Gleason insurance for our commercial auto policy and GL policy. David is the best insurance broker I've worked with — very honest, responsive, and knowledgeable. Highly recommend.

Common questions
Frequently asked questions
Does this page list every coverage line Gleason Insurance Brokers can place?
It lists the lines placed most often, grouped by what each responds to. It is not an exhaustive catalog of everything that can be approached in the surplus lines or specialty markets. If an exposure is not represented here, it is worth asking about rather than assuming it cannot be addressed.
Are these coverage lines available outside California?
Gleason Insurance Brokers is licensed in California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas and Utah. Licensing is what allows a broker to place coverage in a state; it is not the same as a carrier being willing to write a particular risk there, which depends on the operation, the loss history and that carrier’s appetite at the time.
What is the difference between a coverage line and a policy?
A line describes the kind of exposure being addressed — general liability, workers compensation, commercial auto. A policy is the actual contract issued by a carrier. One policy can carry more than one line, as a business owners policy commonly does, and one line can be split across more than one policy. What a business is actually covered for is determined by the issued policy and its endorsements, not by the name of the line.
Can several of these lines be written together?
Often, though not always, and not always with one carrier. Packaging depends on the operation and on which markets are willing to write the combination. Where the lines sit matters for more than convenience: how a claim is handled, how an audit works and how an umbrella attaches all depend on what is underneath it.
Where should I start if a contract is asking for coverage I do not have?
Send the contract or bid package itself along with a description of the operation, the deadline, and any current loss information. The requirements as written are what an underwriter will be answering, and reading them first usually identifies which of the lines below are genuinely at issue.
